NSF Materials Use: Science, Engineering and Society (MUSES) Project
Implications of
Greenhouse Gas Policies on Material Flows--A life Cycle Approach to
Integrating Engineering, Public Policy, and Market Behavior
Purpose
- Understand how automotive producers and consumers will respond to
GHG reduction policies aimed at the transportation sector
Funding
- $1.9M Multi-disciplinary, multi-university, 5-year collaborative research grant funded under NSF MUSES
Collaborators
- University of Michigan (co-lead with RIT), University of
California-Berkeley, University of California-Davis, Northeastern
University
Challenge
- Analysis must account for producer decisions and consumer
preferences, as well as life-cycle analysis of vehicle production and
use
Project Summary
- Approach: Integrate multi-disciplinary models into a metamodel for policy analysis
